Okay so I've ended up writing three book posts in a row due to taking an unexpected couple of weeks off blogging, but there will be more variety from now on I promise!
March has been a little slow on the reading front, I'm finding as my little boy gets older I'm getting less and less time to read, but I still managed to squeeze in a couple.
The Color Purple by Alice Walker // A classic that I've been meaning to read for ages, The Color Purple is set in early 1900s South America and follows the story of Celie, who has given birth to two children by her father before being married off to a farmer who beats her because he loves someone else. The plot follows Celie's relationship with Shug Avery, the singer who her husband is in love with as well as her sister who she believes to be dead. I can see why this is a classic; there are some such strong characters and I got really into it. I rated it three out of five stars; it only missed out on a four because I'm trying to be stricter with my book ratings and stop giving the majority of books a four!
Little Wing by Freya North // The story of a thirty-something woman who suddenly discovers that she isn't who she thinks she is told from three different characters' perspectives. I loved everything about this book; the way it was written, the atmosphere it conjured up and the narrative itself. It managed to be a really easy read, but one with so much depth which I think is hard to find! I rated it four stars.
Ooh I love the sound of little wings. The way it's set up sounds super interesting! And I'm with you on the reading front. I find it difficult making time to read with the kids. More so now my youngest is getting older. I need to make time. X
ReplyDeleteIt's definitely getting harder as he gets older! Would definitely recommend it if you ever get the chance haha x
