I wrote the title of this post and instantly thought, well, technically the easiest breakfast ideas are pouring yourself a bowl of cereal or popping in a slice of toast, so maybe this title is a little misleading, but I'm pushing the boat out a little more here and giving you three breakfast ideas that are easy (although admittedly no, not quite as easy as pouring out a bowl of cereal), healthy and pretty bloomin' tasty (in my opinion). My most eaten breakfast is probably actually porridge with banana and peanut butter, so although these ones are easy they're also the ones I tend to do when I have that little bit more time and energy!

They're also all very much ideas that you can take as a base idea and then make your own and to suit your own tastes and I definitely vary them based on what I feel in the mood for and what we have in the cupboard! I think you may be able to tell from this post that I'm more of a sweet over savoury breakfast person...sorry savoury people.

Overnight oats // There are so many variations of overnight oats; as long as you take oats as your base ingredient you can mix them with whatever milk/yogurt/liquid you want and add any toppings you want too. If you don't fancy making up your own there are heaps of recipes to be found online. My favourite way to make them is to mix oats with some natural yogurt and a bit of water, leave them overnight in the fridge then add berries, seeds/nuts, honey and peanut butter in the morning. I always think they taste so fresh mixed with yogurt and have just that bit more flavour than if you mix them with milk.

Banana and peanut butter on toast // A pretty simple one; two slices of toast with peanut butter then a sliced banana on the top. Also excellent on a bagel. I like to microwave mine for around 20 seconds to warm and soften the banana (might sound gross but trust me). You could substitute the peanut butter for nutella if you're a chocolate fiend or sprinkle some extra fancy bits like cinnamon on the top which sounds delicious now I've thought of it, but I've never actually done it because creative thoughts like that don't tend to strike me all that often in the morning!

Homemade granola bowl // Another one that you can totally make your own. I make my own granola; I originally followed a Deliciously Ella recipe, but now I don't really follow one at all and just lump together oats, seeds, nuts or whatever else I have with melted coconut oil, maple syrup/honey and cinnamon then add some dried fruit after it's cooked. I don't bother with weighing anything and it always seems to work out. I tend to have mine with yogurt and berries, but you could add it to a smoothie bowl, add some chocolate chips or other fruit or just enjoy it on its own with milk (so I have kind of included the pour yourself a bowl of cereal option...)

  1. I absolutely love bananas on toast (it has to be brown bread though), I like that you add peanut butter to that too! x

  2. I've not thought to make my own granola before! We eat it quite a bit at home too. I'll have to give it a go. Thanks for sharing. I always find breakfast the most uninspiring meal of the day. X
