Third Trimester Diaries

a silhouette of a woman holding her pregnant belly at 39 weeks

This is pre-scheduled so I may or may not have had a baby by now (I bloody hope so by now to be honest, but I'm not holding out too much hope...)

06.06.2022 - 28 weeks pregnant

Oh hiii third trimester! I have to say I'm getting a little impatient to meet our little one now, but at the same time am enjoying feeling and watching them move around in there (a lot!) and also we are nowhere near ready so definitely need these last three months to sort the nursery and get everything we need. Symptom-wise I'm definitely getting more uncomfortable now and am finding normal everyday things infuriatingly difficult (who knew bending down to pick up something you've dropped could be such a chore?). I've also been getting the odd dizzy spell and feeling a little weaker at times, but I have a midwife appointment tomorrow where I'll find out if it's low blood pressure, anaemia or just plain old pregnancy!

13.06.2022 - 29 weeks pregnant

Well if the second trimester glow ever arrived for me, it's most certainly gone now! I'm currently off work with a horrendous cold and feeling like the least glam pregnant person ever. I had a midwife appointment last week though, which was lovely as Matthew came along with me and we heard the heartbeat properly for the first time. I was also measured for the first time and luckily was bang on what was expected. The midwife was even able to estimate how much the baby might weight when it's born (although she did stress that this was an estimate!) and I was pretty relieved as I was a huge baby (sorry Mum) and although I know there could still be a big growth spurt to come it's nice to have my mind put at ease for now!

23.06.2022 - 30 weeks pregnant

I'm actually 31 weeks tomorrow so just squeezing this entry in. The weather has been HOT this week, which has not been fun so I've been living in the shade and with my fan on in the bedroom. I came out in a rash a couple of weeks ago, which gradually got worse and appears to have been an allergic reaction to the tablets I was taking for acid reflux. So now I've stopped taking those the rash is much better, but my acid reflux is horrendous I just feel sick every time I eat so this week marks the start of me trying to manage it with smaller portions/eating little and often instead of with tablets!

27.06.2022 - 31 weeks pregnant

A new symptom has struck me pretty late in the game; pelvic girdle pain! It came on really quite suddenly yesterday (not sure if I maybe overdid it with decorating the nursery) and my GOD it is painful. I've gone from walking around fairly normally to barely being able to waddle! I've ordered a maternity support belt to hopefully help and I'm hoping if it is because I overdid it a bit that it will ease with rest. And if it doesn't then at least I've only got to live with it for eight or nine weeks!

07.07.2022 - 32 weeks pregnant

I had my baby shower at the weekend, which was so lovely and I felt well and truly spoilt! I feel like I'm learning to live with my pelvic girdle pain; it's annoying because I've massively slowed down, but I've weirdly got used to the pain. My acid reflux on the other hand is still horrendous and it's really difficult to try and eat little and often when I'm still working. I still stand by the view that nothing in the third trimester (so far) is as bad as the first though!

13.07.2022 - 33 weeks pregnant

My goodness it is hot! I'm not the best in a heatwave anyway (a nice 20 degrees will do just fine for me thank you), but being pregnant in the heat is really no fun! I'm struggling to sleep, although I feel like my pelvic pain has eased a little. Everything is feeling very real now as we're decorating the nursery and things like the pram have started arriving!

20.07.2022 - 34 weeks pregnant

Just laughing a little at the last entry because this week saw the hottest temperatures the UK has ever experienced so took heatwave to a whole new level if I thought I was struggling last week! We're still getting things sorted round the house and have also started an online hypnobirthing course; it feels like there's so much to fit in before the baby is born and not very much time (or mobility on my part!)

27.07.2022 - 35 weeks pregnant

I wouldn't say there's much to report this week apart from wow I am so tired!

02.08.2022 - 36 weeks pregnant

I made my birth plan at my 36 week appointment and also found out that baby's head is engaged! I know that doesn't necessarily mean they're coming anytime soon, but it's nice to know they're the right way round. I've kept my birth plan fairly open minded; ideally I'd love a water birth in a birth centre, but am very aware that all sorts can happen and that may not be possible!

09.08.2022 - 37 weeks pregnant

Officially full term! I only have two days left at work and cannot wait to finish and hopefully have a bit of time to chill out before baby makes an appearance. Not much to report really apart from that I'm huge, uncomfortable and tired!

15.08.2022 - 38 weeks pregnant

I feel like this summer has been particularly cruel to me because why would there be two heatwaves in one summer?! It's been so hot the past few days so I'm a little grumpy (maybe an understatement) and getting annoyed at not being able to sleep. It finally cools down from tomorrow though and I'm hoping that between now and the baby being born that it stays that way!

22.08.2022 - 39 weeks pregnant

There's really not much to report apart from that I just have a huge belly and am getting a bit sick of not feeling like a functioning human being. It thankfully has cooled down though so I've been sleeping a lot better and am just trying to chill out now I've finished work (easier said than done when the only place I can get comfortable is on my birthing ball). I really can't complain too much though as I do feel like my pregnancy has been pretty plain sailing compared to a lot of people; I'm clearly just not one of those people who enjoys being pregnant! Roll on baby!

29.08.2022 - 40 weeks pregnant

Aaaand we hit 40 weeks! This is the most annoying waiting game I've played in my life, and I've been feeling oddly anxious in case I miss some sort of vital sign at this point; I think I just want baby here and safe! God knows what the next couple of weeks may bring, but I'm going to pre-schedule this because if I hit 41 weeks I can't imagine that entry would be anything other than a moan!

Comments

  1. Aw. Loved reading these weekly snippets. I wish I kept a bit more of a diary with my pregnancies. It'll be amazing to look back on. The last few weeks are horrendous right? They seem to last forever. And acid reflux / heartburn. I don't miss that in the slightest. Congratulations to you all! I hope you're doing well. X
