I've managed to leave it rather a long time again since writing one of these posts despite the fact that I find them super therapeutic to write; while I'm forever meaning to take up journaling I've never quite got round to it and I suppose these small moments of happiness posts are my way of doing so. Particularly in that post-Christmas January blues slump it's nice to reflect on some of the small things that are keeping my spirits up.
Low lying winter sunshine throwing shapes through your window.
Leftover Christmas chocolate.
Unexpected texts from friends.
The tentative unfurling of new leaves on house plants.
Sitting down to watch a film and actually managing it all in one go.
The immense freshness of freezing cold air.
Getting back into some sort of routine.
A rare good hair day.
Crying happy tears.
Finally ticking things off last year's to-do list.
Reading yourself to sleep.
The quiet trickle of a pebbly stream.
Watching my cat play with string.
Homemade cheeseboards.
Floaty dresses (with big jumpers).
Brief encounters with strangers you'd probably be friends with in another life.
Croissants.
I love seeing people's happy lists! I hope you had a lovely Christmas - definitely relate to watching a film in one go aha x

Awh thank you, hope you had a lovely Christmas too! x
DeleteLeftover Christmas chocolate is absolutely worth shouting about, and I love the concept of appreciating the little things about this time of year, rather than hating the entire month. So sweet!

It's so helpful to take joy in the smaller things when the January blues hit! x
DeleteI love these simple joys! I used to write a weekly post of things that made me happy last week. It was so helpful to my mindset :)

I used to journal it every day but fell out of the habit, but I love it! x
DeleteThere's something a little off putting about the low lying winter sunshine here in Copenhagen. I went to Ikea yesterday and we left at 1pm and between it being cold and the sun being low it felt like it should be really early in the morning rather than lunchtime. I'm not sure how people cope in places like Longyearbbyen, Svalbard that don't see sunshine for nearly 100 days each year.
ReplyDeleteI've just donated some of my leftover Christmas chocolate to my son - I was given a Toblerone by Santa but I don't like it so I gave it to my son lol. He doesn't know at the moment though so he's going to have a surprise next time he goes to his treat box lol.
Good hair days are rare for me at the moment - my hair is just so static! It seems to be either static or greasy there's no good day. Maybe as the weather gets warmer things might calm down again!
I loved Copenhagen when I visited but that would definitely be something I would struggle with - I already don't like dark evenings in the UK! Hope your son enjoys his treat and it is rare to get a good hair day in winter isn't it!
DeleteThis is just such a lovely list!
ReplyDeleteAwh thank you lovely! x

DeleteLove this! I do a similar monthly thing over on my blog. There are so many of these I've loved recently too. My leftover Christmas chocolate is looking scarily low now. Eeek!
