This is an item of clothing you'll have seen many times if you're a regular reader of my blog, to the point where I thought 'I can't photograph that again', but I suppose that's the point of wardrobe staples isn't it? They're the things that you wear over and over and can style again and again without getting bored of them or running out of ways to wear them. You've probably already guessed from the title, but I'm talking about my white shirt (speaking as if I've only got one but we all know that's definitely not true). A white shirt is probably on every single wardrobe staple list ever written so call me predictable, but it's on mine too.
A white shirt is one of those items of clothing that I've ended up owning a lot of. They're all different, I promise. My favourite though, is actually from the men's section of Tu at Sainsbury's and apart from the fact that why are the buttons on the wrong side, how on earth do men cope with this I love it. It was only £14, I've had it for about two years now and it's still as good as new. It's good quality i.e. can't see your bra through it EVEN IF IT'S BLACK, which I feel like is a great rarity for a white shirt, the material is really quite thick so it's warm and it goes with everything. That's the beauty of a white shirt - you can wear one tucked into high waisted jeans or a skirt, loose with leggings, underneath dungarees (although who am I kidding, I'm not cool enough to pull those off). I do wear mine with everything though as it's just such a great item to pull on whenever I feel like I've got nothing else, even though LOL I've got heaps of clothes. That's the key to a good wardrobe staple for me - being able to put it on in a rush, pair it with absolutely anything and still look like you've made an effort (which is basically my life).
My white shirt collection is by no means complete either. Although I love this one, I am on the hunt for a slightly more classically feminine one, the type that you see on those super chic girls who only seem to exist on Pinterest and not actually in real life (if you are one of those girls, please email me and teach me all you know, thanks). If you have any white shirt recommendations, please let me know! The photo below is an outfit I've shot for my blog before and it's just one example of how I style this shirt, but as I said there really are countless ways!
Do you have a white shirt in your wardrobe?

I always feel like I need to pick up a new one haha! Hope you find one :) xx
DeleteThat shirt is beautiful! I hate that white women's clothing is always see-through and men's tends not to be! I'm after a white t-shirt and a shirt but have yet to find the perfect one! I might have to look in TU as I love the oversized look on me!

It's so annoying isn't it - managed to get round it anyway! xx
DeleteThose jeans are perfect! Been on the hunt for some embroidered jeans for ages. All the white shirts I buy seem to come up see through and I have to take them back, going to start rooting through the men's sections instead now!
ReplyDeleteKate|| www.katerattley.com
Thank you so much I love them! Yeah only one I've found that isn't see through! xx
DeleteI love white shirts but I'm terrible at keeping them clean haha they are so cute though!

DeleteI agree in white shirt as a versatile and basic piece. I like your embroidered jeans, so pretty. Haven't seen something like this in all blue. Great look!
ReplyDeletewww.busyandfab.com
They're the only ones I've seen in all blue. Thank you! xx
DeleteFinding a white shirt that doesn't show a black bra through it is a true achievement, I need to pick up a shirt like yours!! I only have one white shirt and I must admit that I don't wear it all that much as I never feel confident with styling it! My go-to shirt is stripey because I feel like it goes with everything hehe! Thanks for sharing your wardrobe staple with us!
ReplyDeleteAbbey đź’“ www.abbeylouisarose.co.uk
It's so difficult to find one that doesn't show through isn't it! The stripey one sounds great! xx
DeleteYes!! A white shirt is the ultimate staple, it's honestly embarrassing how many I have in different styles/fits etc. Obsessed with those jeans too!

DeleteI do love a good shirt and have a couple of white ones myself. I'm quite clumsy though and always end up spilling tea down the front or something haha. Gemma x
ReplyDeletewww.jacquardflower.uk
Haha aw no! I'm quite lucky because I'm so clumsy but that hasn't happened yet! xx
DeleteCan you believe I don't even own one!!!?? I KNOW!!! Thank you so much for sharing this with us! Dominica from London, www.its-dominica.blogspot.co.uk xXx
ReplyDeleteAw you need to get one, they're so versatile! xx
DeleteWhite shirts can look so chic but its something I so rarely wear because I'm too lazy to iron! Love this look on you, and shopping in the men's section is such a genius idea, even though the whole button thing is weeirdd...
ReplyDeleteAnoushka
This one is such thick material it doesn't often need ironing which is great! xx
DeleteI do have some white shirts, but since something bad happened in my life and I put on so much weight, I am not wearing white very often anymore. But I liked the shirt that doesn't show the bra, even it is black! I loved the jeans and shoes, and with the white shirt, a very nice outfit! And you can be on Pinterest in a very chic way, believe me!
ReplyDeleteDenisesPlanet.com
Thank you Denise, that's so kind of you :) xx
DeleteThis is so cute, very cute ideas too!! I wish I could pull shirts off!!! Good job xox
ReplyDeleteThank you so much Emma, I'm sure you could pull shirts off! xx
DeleteYES girl - love how you've styled this with the embroidered jeans! Everyone needs a white shirt in their wardrobe (you've found an absolute bargain with this one!), I love dressing mine up with leather look trousers and heels, but then you can dress it down with biker boots or under a slip dress!

DeleteI love this shirt and I think the TU clothing collection is great. I always shop there and love the clothes. Also it's while you do a food shop which is great!
ReplyDeleteI really need to find the right white shirt as they either don't fit right or I can see my bra through it. Yours looks amazing!
Thanks for sharing

DeleteI think you can't go wrong with a white shirt and everyone has to have one in their wardrobe. I love wearing them under jumpers and having the collars showing and the bottom.

Under a jumper is such a good way to wear a shirt! Xx
DeleteWhen I worked for Hallmark the uniform required a white button up shirt but we had to wear a black apron over it anyways. Since working there I've realized I don't have a white shirt. I'm afraid to have one now just because I know I'd spill something on it or it'd get dirty so easily.
ReplyDeleteSingle Vegas Girl

Ah that's a shame you don't have one - luckily I haven't spilt on this yet! Xx
DeleteLove the shirt. Super cute and modern but also looks professional đź’ś
