The best thing about having a birthday on December 1st used to be that I got to open the first window of my chocolate advent calendar on my birthday. Now the best thing is the fact that there are so many different types of advent calendar that it makes the perfect birthday present. A beauty advent calendar isn't something that I would buy for myself, plus it basically makes my birthday last until Christmas. December is officially my favourite month.
This year I got the M&S Beauty Advent Calendar, which was the one I wanted just because it looked like it had so many good products in it and was such good value. There were no 'filler' items in it like I've seen in other calendars and most of the products were really good sizes too. Even though I fangirled over pretty much everything in it, I thought I'd run through my absolute favourites. P.S I decided on my favourites and then had to narrow them down some more because I had too many!
Emma Hardie Moringa Cleansing Balm | This does look like a deceivingly small sample, but I've been using it twice a day for about two weeks now and it's only about half gone. This is something I would never have bought because, well, pricey so I'm so glad it was in here because it's so lovely. I do love a balm cleanser because I just find them so luxurious to use and this one is so soothing. It is quite subtly scented and I really love the scent even though I can't describe it properly for the life of me. I haven't had any breakouts since using this (resultttt) and my skin just seems to have a little bit more life to it which is always a bonus.
Eyeko Skinny Eyeliner | This is my favourite eyeliner of all time and I used one I got free with a magazine to death until sadly it dried out and I had to revert back to my high street alternative because yes, you guessed it, I was too stingy to buy one. So I was super happy when I got this one in the calendar. It lasts forever, it's super easy to apply and it also doesn't streak even with my ridiculously watery eyes.
Phillip Kingsley Elasticizer | This is a pre-shampoo treatment, which is supposed to make your hair stronger, shinier and bouncier. It definitely makes my hair look shinier, gives it more volume and it's much more manageable too. I noticed a difference from the very first use and when I forgot to use it last week (only realised when I was in the shower with shampoo in my hair) I was pretty devoted.
Josh Wood Radiant Shine Hair Treatment Oil | Not to be basic, but the main reason I fell in love with this is because it smells divine. It's also nice on your hair obviously and you really only need the tiniest amount. You can use it on wet or dry hair, but I prefer to use it on dry just to tame flyaways and make my hair look that bit sleeker.
Pixi Brow Tamer | I wasn't expecting much from this, although I don't know why as I've heard really good things about Pixi, but it really does keep my eyebrows in place all day long without making them look all hard and as if they've got product in them. I love Benefit's Gimme Brow, but I always feel like my eyebrows need a little more filling in than that so this clear gel is great for popping over pencil filled eyebrows.
Pur Minerals Correcting Prep and Primer | This is one of those primers that feels like it's melting into your skin like velvet as you apply it (over dramatic explanation?). It's just such a lovely base and just the act of applying it feels like a treat!
Did you get the M&S beauty advent calendar?

DeleteThis is so nice, to have your birthday as the first day of an Advents' calendar! I liked all you showed and I like Pixi - the brand in general, very much! I would love to try the Pur correcting primer! I am so lazy to wear a primer, but I would like to change it and wear it more often!
