So I did have a post scheduled for today. It was about the winter nail varnish combinations I've been loving recently (my favourite above because I love the photo). It was vaguely interesting if you like nail varnish and the pictures were OK and then suddenly I just decided I didn't want to post it because I'd only written it because I felt like I had to stick to my schedule of three posts a week. It was a 'filler' and I don't want to produce content I'm not 100% happy with (says she who is such a perfectionist she's never 100% happy with anything).
I considered at the beginning of the year cutting down my content from three posts a week to two and really should have just bitten the bullet and done it. I want to put my all into each post I write rather than cobbling one together because I feel like I have to. Because I want the content of my posts to be much better and also because I'm focusing on my YouTube channel as well (subscribe here - shameless plug, but I've got a video I'm really proud of going up on Sunday!) I'm going to do it now. From next week I'll be posting twice a week on Wednesdays and Sundays.
Thank you for all your lovely support and I hope you'll still read!

Good Luck! I changed my posting schedule too towards the back of last year and it's been so much better since then.

Thank you! Yeah I feel much happier changing it :) xx
DeleteI agree with you so much on this! I somehow used to pull off whacking out 3 posts a week and whenever I missed one I felt absolutely consumed by guilt and I ended up having a complete slump! So I've decided to try for 2 posts a week, but without all the pressure on myself so if I only manage to get one out, it won't feel like the end of the world, hahaha!
ReplyDeleteHope you're doing well, girl :)

Yeah that's exactly what I need to do - take the pressure off! I'm only going to post things I'm 100% happy with as well! xx
DeleteI am changing my schedule all the time and I cannot find the days that really suit me, but I will figure it out! x

It's difficult isn't it - I just chose Wednesday and Sunday because they were quite far apart! xx
DeleteI've just done the same, you don't want to start the new year with any extra panic! Looking forward to the video too!!
ReplyDeleteHave a lovely weekend :)

Exactly, feel much better about it! Thank you lovely :) xx
DeleteTwo posts a week sound great to me, why would you push yourself to do more if you're currently feeling like they wouldn't be done with passion...cheers to this decision, good luck with all the upcoming posts and don't forget that you can always change your posting schedule when you feel like it! :) Yay for Youtube, looking forward to new videos! xx
ReplyDeleteYes exactly! I don't want to lose my passion for blogging because then what's the point? xx
DeleteI feel you on this, Amy. I've come to a point in blogging where I won't publish content when I don't feel like it and will only put up posts that I'm actually properly proud of. Twice a week is a good number of times to post in a week (much better than mine of course -- I do once a week if I'm feeling it, and none if I'm not, haha).
ReplyDeleteGood luck, Amy!

Thank you, that's exactly why I'm cutting down on content - there's no point putting up things I'm not happy with! xx
DeleteLove your nails & the photo is indeed very beautiful. Twice a week is great & I support your decision. Gotta check your videos. Have a lovely weekend, dear <3

Thanks so much Eva, would be great if you checked out my videos :) xx
DeleteI love your nails, make your schedule something which works for you because otherwise what is the point in having a blog if you are not actually enjoying it.

Exactly what I thought! Thank you Charlotte :) xx
DeleteWonderful and perfect! I follow you blog, please follow me too. http://alamodenatine.blogspot.com
ReplyDeleteJust because you plan to post twice a week doesn't mean you cant fit an extra post in here and there if you feel the need too :)

That's very true and I hadn't thought of it like that and it makes much more sense that way round :) xx PS I don't know how you do it everyday, you are a machine!
DeleteIt is really nice that you told it, like, not to write a post to be a filler, but to have the content you really want. You can write two posts a week and an extra one if you like, but yes, just if you like. In the past I used to post a lot, then I started to have one post a week, then from July 2016 twice a week and again, once a week. In February I may go back to twice a week or, once for sure, and sporadically twice. But like you said, what really suits my life, we need to be happy about what we do :) Hope you have a very nice weekend!

Thanks Denise, yes maybe the odd extra one here and there! Hope you're having a lovely weekend xx
Deletelove this! I sometimes go a while without posting because I just don't want to write or publish if my hearts not truly in it. I think a lot of other people creating blog posts need to take this advice and do the same as I read some content where you can tell they aren't themselves which I'd hate to show in my posts. Remember to enjoy blogging!!! xxxx
ReplyDeleteYeah I definitely see less engagement when my heart hasn't been in it! Totally agree xx
DeleteAwesome post! I barely post two times a week so I'm impressed with your dedication :)

Aw thanks haha, I think two a week gives me a good balance! xx
DeleteQuality is better than quantity right? Blogging should be fun so if it means you have to change your posting schedule to enjoy it more then so be it! Gotta do what's best for you x
ReplyDeleteSick Chick Chic
Totally and I think I was putting quantity first before! Thank you lovely xx
DeleteLady I completely agree with you on this, I always used to post content because I felt like I had to, but then I noticed a drop in engagement and people reading whenever I posted a half hearted post, I soon realised that everyone would prefer to read one GOOD post a week that they could tell I actually enjoyed writing rather than 3-4 posts 'just because'! I love your content lady, keep smashing it! <3

Thank you! Hope you enjoy the video :) Glad you can relate xx
DeleteI totally agree! I've not posted in a while as I'm taking time to work on content I am really happy with rather than post for the sake of it! Take your time and post when you feel is right to post! Looking forward to watching your video :) xxx
ReplyDeleteRachel | www.rachelxblog.com
It's definitely better! My video is live now if you fancy a watch :) xx
DeleteQuality over quantity every day! I love your posts so much and posting less won't stop me reading your blog! Your blog is yours so you can post whenever you want to!
