I have a feeling I'm going to find writing this post slightly annoying as Blogger insists on autocorrecting Zizzi to Pizzi every time I write it (what is Pizzi?). Also I've just finished a ten hour shift after four hours sleep so apologies if some cheeky Pizzis make it in here.
ANYWAY, on Tuesday I attended an evening at Zizzi sampling their new autumn menu with Ellie and Hannah along with nine other lucky sods like me. It was an amazing opportunity and although it involved a 6am start after a late shift followed by a 2am finish before an early shift (confused? I was) it was so worth being exhausted!
Luckily Nick just happened to have the day off so we spent the day in London together before he went to meet his friend and I tootled off to the event. I was so nervous because I'm just not good with new people and I'm pretty sure I was a mixture of word vomiting lunatic and quiet recluse. Despite that I had such a great night and the other girls were all so lovely.
Onto the important bit though - the food! The whole reason we were there was to sample Zizzi's new menu and my first taste of it was a Pomegranate G&T. Gin and tonic is my absolute favourite and the pomegranate made it taste dangerously like juice so it went down preeetty quickly. After our cocktails we were poured some skinny prosecco - YES that is a thing. It tastes exactly like normal prosecco, but is somehow easier to drink which is fine because it has less calories so you can totally drink more (or eat more pizza, which is probably the option I would go for).

We were brought so many starters I didn't know where to start (haha geddit?) and I think we were all holding back slightly for fear of filling ourselves up before the main courses, or most importantly, pudding. My personal favourite was the Fritto Misto, which was a mixture of battered seafood and vegetables - I probably could have eaten the whole plate if that was socially acceptable.
Onto mains and I'm pretty gutted I didn't get a picture of my personal highlight, which was the Pulled Pork Roma Pizza, but by the time it got to me it was well and truly dug into. I'm definitely going to need to make some food after writing this because just thinking about the pulled pork, sun blushed tomatoes and chilli jam on that pizza has literally made my mouth water and I don't think that's ever actually happened to me before, I thought it was just an expression.
The puddings were well and truly devoured and this was the one course where I managed to try a bit of everything! They were all absolutely delicious, but the one that really captured my heart (yes a pudding has captured my heart) was the Salted Caramel Chocolate Brownie. I mean just look at it. It was the gooiest brownie I've ever had with salted caramel sauce sandwiched in the middle and served with chocolate pouring sauce. I can't even describe how much I want one now.
After food there was some more prosecco combined with some dating stories and then I had to leave. The evening seemed to go ridiculously quickly, which I suppose is the sign of a good one and now all that needs to happen is that Zizzi open a restaurant in Hull and I'll be set. Thanks so much to Ellie and Hannah and of course Zizzi for being the perfect hosts!
