Homemade Nakd Bars

Posted on: Tuesday 5 July 2016

Nakd bars are one of my staple snacks to get me through the week. I try to be as healthy as I can throughout the week (and then treat myself on a weekend #balance) but I can't get through the week without a little sweet treat so Nakd bars are my go to because they're still fairly healthy. Seeing as they're a little pricey (for the amount I eat anyway!) and also because I fancied the experiment I thought I'd try making my own and adding my own flavours to them! The flavours I decided to try were chocolate with ginger and chocolate with peanut butter. (P.S I'm aware they're not the most appetising things to look at - they taste good though I promise).

Recipe:
200g dates
100g mixed nuts
50g sunflower seeds
2 tbsp cacao powder
Optional extras: 1 tsp ground ginger, 1 tsp peanut butter

Method:
Blend together the dates, mixed nuts, sunflower seeds and cacao powder.
Split the mixture into two (or into however many different flavours you want to make!)
Add the ginger to one half of the mixture and the peanut butter to the other half (or whichever other flavours you might choose to use) and mix.
Mould the mixture into separate bar shapes  - I found it made three of each flavour plus a little mini taster bar.
Place on a plate and put in the freezer for an hour to set.
Keep in the fridge and get eating!

Do you like Nakd bars? Will you be trying these homemade ones?

  8. Like you said, maybe they don't look as delicious, but I am sure they are, because of the ingredients you mixed! Nakd Bars are great, yours with peanut butter, dates and mixed nuts must be great too and a good way to have vitamins! I will definitely try the recipe!
