Homemade Lush Oatifix Mask

Posted on: Tuesday 26 July 2016

Before I get into this post let me mention that 1) yes this mask does feel like you're spreading cold porridge all over your face and 2) I've never actually tried Lush Oatifix so it may be not that similar at all.

So I mentioned in Sunday's post that I recently went to visit my friend in Glasgow and while we were browsing Lush we decided to peek at the ingredients of their Oatifix face mask and make our own cheaper version that night. Obviously we couldn't add everything because lol where do we get those ingredients we can't even pronounce? We also added a couple of extras because we were feeling inventive.

You'll kind of want to eat the mixture before you put it on and honestly, it does feel like you're putting your breakfast on your face, but while it's on it has the bonus of smelling pretty good and it also begins to harden just like any other mask would (which made us feel like we might actually have done something right). Getting it off is pretty messy, but all Lush masks are messy so that was expected and once I cleaned it off I was left with such soft skin. I was genuinely amazed that something we randomly made had actually had a good effect on my skin.

Ingredients:
4 tbsp oats
1/2 a banana
1 tsp honey
1 tsp coconut oil
2 tbsp water

The mixture makes the same amount that a Lush face mask is sold in so I'm actually keeping mine in an old Lush face mask tub! You simply mix it all together and pop in the fridge before applying.

Have you ever made your own face masks before? Have you tried Lush Oatifix?

  1. I wanted to buy a mask from Lush when I was on holiday but I didn't have a fridge so I ended up not getting one! I will definitely try out this one as it sounds really nice :)

  2. What an amazing idea, I have never tried to make a mask myself but it's a great way of saving money. I wouldn't even mind having 'breakfast' on my face, it's my favourite meal of the day after all haha xx

  13. No, I never tried Oatifix! But I am amazed by the ingredients, all very natural, so I am sure that it was good, that it produced a great effect! Porridge on the face, I had to smile :) I think I would like to eat that, just like you said :) Hope you have a nice day!

  14. Ooh I definitely need to try this as I adore Lush's Oatifix (and all of their masks actually) Totally know what you mean though, slathering breakfast all over your face isn't the most desirable feeling haha!

  17. Such a great idea, it really sounds like something I'd love to try especially because Lush masks are definitely a bit too pricey for me currently. Plus this totally sounds like something I would eat as well :)
