We all have those staple pieces in our wardrobe that we turn to more often than others and wear to death (and I mean literally, my last pair of chelsea boots were missing half a sole and had rips in them before I decided it was time to say goodbye). I'm going to make a little feature here and each month I want to feature a different staple in my wardrobe - those pieces (anyone else kind of hate calling clothes 'pieces'?) that get you through when you're having a day when you feel hideous and the ones that just go with everything.
The common theme with my wardrobe staples is that they do tend to just go with everything. A lot of my wardrobe is for ease - I like having things I can put together without really having to put too much thought into it especially if I have to be at work and I can't afford to waste time deciding what to wear. So my wardrobe staples tend to be things that I can throw on with anything and they'll just work. Enter my first wardrobe staple...(if you haven't already guessed what it is by now).
I'm starting with probably the most worn item in my wardrobe and that's black chelsea boots. The ones I have now are relatively new (see reference to missing sole and rips above) but they really are a boot you can just put on with anything, they're comfortable and they look effortlessly good, unless you put them on the wrong feet as I actually discovered not too long ago...then you look like a penguin. Both my current pair and my last pair were from Topshop and they actually tend to be pretty reasonable from there - my last pair were £35 and they lasted for three years (bearing in mind I probably wear them for about 300 out of 365 days of the year) and my current ones were £42 (here). I have high hopes that these ones will last three years too, watch out Topshop complaints department if they don't (JOKE, obviously).
The pictures below are all outfits that I've featured on my blog at some point in the last six months, which show just how versatile these boots are - I've styled them with dresses, jeans, ankle grazers, skirts, leggings, they go with everything. If I had to choose one type of shoe for the rest of my life (not sure in what scenario I would ever have to make that choice, but go with it) it would 100% be these. Did I mention how comfortable they are?
What's your staple shoe?
